deep thinking poll: rock wisdom (updated)

Beth has a post up with a good question that she thought I’d be interested in. And she’s right. Not just interested in answering it myself, but I really want to put this out there to you guys because I know you’ll have good answers. I figure if we get enough response to this, we’ll do some kind of poll later on and come up with the definitive (ok, subjectively definitive) answer. The question is:

What do you think is the best advice/wisdom given in a rock song?

Now, when I use the word “rock” I use it to encompass all if it; metal, punk, classic, soft, hard, prog, whatever…..but I really want to stick to the “rock” part of this.

I have a few hours of parent/teacher conferences facing me right now, so I will be updating this post with my suggestions later on in the day. It will take me a bit to think on this, anyhow. “To be a rock, but not to roll” just doesn’t have the same wisdom it did for me when I was a teenager.

Meanwhile, add your own answers in the comments. Feel free to post as many lyrics as you want. I’d love to get a large sampling here, so tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your readers!

Update: It’s been a really busy day, I wish I had more time to devote to this. But while waiting to see my kids’ teachers I did come up with two simple yet meaningful lines:

Stupid people do stupid things
Smart people outsmart each other…then themselves

and

If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding.

Really. When you (over)analyze that, it’s really quite profound.

I’m also fond of the Circle Jerks’ Live Fast Die Young, but I never did take that advice.

all beef, all the time

Today is National Hot Dog Day.

I like mine all beef, preferably Oscar Mayer brand. Potato bun, sauerkraut and yellow mustard.

Every once in a while, a chili dog is nice. Todd keeps talking about this place in California called Weinerschnitzel. He claims they have the best chili dogs in the world. But he claims California has the best everything in the world, so I take his claim with a grain of salt.

This calls for a poll. Favorite hot dog condiment. Note, those of you that say ketchup are heathens. And you can vote for more than one.

So tell me, how do you like your dogs? How many condiments do you put on one weener?

THE POLL HAS BEEN CLOSED. THESE ARE THE FINAL RESULTS.
