apology to axl rose

About a year ago, at the behest of the site dearrockers.com, I wrote a letter to Axl Rose and sent him some change.

The letter read:

Dear Axl,

There are a lot of musicians I could have sent this money to; people like Bob Mould or Henry Rollins or Robert Plant, whose music graced the mix tapes of my youth. But I figured out of all of them, you could probably use the money the most. Some day you will realize two things: 1) Slash was the heart of GnR, and 2) We all know that Chinese Democracy is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. When that happens, take this five bucks and buy a bottle of Night Train to see you through.

P.S. I am giving it to you in change because that’s how bum wine should be bought.

Now it looks like Chinese Democracy is actually being released.

So, even though Axl has still to apologize for The Spaghetti Incident, I do owe him an apology for that and, being the bigger man than him, I’ll actually say I am sorry I underestimated Mr. Rose’s ability to put this thing together in under 42 years, and not die in a gutter before it was ever released.

But I want my change back, Axl. Five bucks.

20 years ago today, GnR gave birth to Appetite For Destruction.

The last great thing GnR ever did. And even that’s debatable.

In other news, Axl is still pregnant with Chinese Democracy. That’s the longest gestation period for album, ever.

Here’s hoping it’s stillborn.
