This was not the scenario everyone expected, but it’s the best possible one that could happen. A nice, fat Fuck You to Steinbrenner and company. There’s only so long even a person like Joe Torre could tolerate that kind of treatment.

I hate the yankees but I have a ton of respect for Joe Torre. I think it’s ridiculous the way that guy has been treated over the last few years.
All I can say is, thanks Steinbrenner! The AL East will be a little easier for everybody now.
I’m not even a Yankees’ fan, but I think that this kind of treatment from one of the best managers in the game was complete bullshit. It’s almost as if Yankee ownership belongs to them like the divine right of kings and couldn’t tolerate not winning.
Torre’s a class act. If my team-St. Louis- were looking for a manager, he’d be the first person on the list.
So what now for NY? Are they going to use necromancy to bring back the moldering corpse of Billy Marin yet again?
